Due to the growing number of children who qualify for free or reduced lunch; all students in the Christian County school system are 100% free lunch. This means there are a lot of children who are at risk for food insecurity and lots of hungry children living right here in our community.
According to Feeding America Kentucky Heartland, 1 out of every 4 children in our region of Kentucky don't get enough to eat. The only food they receive is provided by the school; that number is troubling.
But it's comforting to know a little can go a long way. It costs only $120.00 to feed a child throughout the entire school year.
This program is made possible through a partnership with Feeding America Kentucky's Heartland. Funding to help support this awesome program is provided by local donors. The funds donated goes directly toward purchasing food that children right here in Christian County receive each week through Feeding America's Back Pack Program.
