"I worry less about having enough for my kids to eat."
"Sometimes my dad doesn't have enough money for food, so I eat my BackPack food."
In Nelson County, 18.6% of, or 2,090 children are food insecure. Almost a fourth of these children do not qualify for federal nutrition dollars. Map the Meal Gap Nelson County
By supporting the Nelson County BackPack Program, you are providing a supplemental food bag of 13-16 kid-friendly items to hungry students to help with food needs over the weekend and during school breaks. Students come to school on Monday morning more ready to learn and participate in school activities when their weekend food needs are met.
Last year, the Nelson County BackPack Program served 314 students in Bardstown City, Nelson County, and Head Start schools.
On behalf of the students and families enrolled in the Nelson County BackPack Program, thank you for your financial gift and caring commitment to making a difference in children's lives.
This program is made possible by our partnership with Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland. Local donors provide the funds necessary for FAKH to purchase the food that children in Nelson County receive each week through the BackPack Program.
